How NOT to Install an Air Conditioner

As much as we all like to think we can do it ourselves, sometimes this leads to a less than optimal result. A lot of the time a DIY project starts off with the best intentions, but ends up with frustration winning the fight. While we can’t give you specifics on how to install your own unit, we can tell you what kinds of practices to avoid when attempting an air conditioner install.

This article is intended for humorous purposes, Northwest does not recommend that you install or service an air conditioner unless you have proper training and experience.

Northwest presents : “How NOT to install an air conditioner”

1.  Propping up an AC unit with your window… or whatever else!

Definitely not the safest bet… just one wrong move could send your unit tumbling down!

2.  Leaning on your AC unit… or sitting on it!

Installing AC is not worth risking your own well-being!

Or your friend’s!

3.  Not letting your AC unit “breathe”

Not only are you inhibiting your unit from working, but you’re making it difficult to have future access for repairs! If you want to landscape around your unit properly, see our blog post “How to Landscape Around Your Air Conditioner”

4.  Giving up on your unit !

Don’t give up on your unit halfway through an install- your equipment is too much of an investment to be thrown aside. We all get frustrated with our systems, – but that’s okay. That’s what we’re here for!

If you are ever interested in having an air conditioner installed, replaced or serviced, please do not hesitate to give us a call! We would love to have one of our qualified technicians help you with your system. 563-391-1344
