Tips to help your family conserve water (and save big!)

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the average family uses approximately 300 gallons of water per day (about 30 percent being outdoor usage). This could include toilets, sinks, showers, etc. Our lack of water conservation means lots of water that you may not even need to consume.

Your  water conservation tips:

1. Don’t waste water just waiting for it to heat up! Consider replacing your water heater with a tankless water heater which will allow you immediate access to hot water when you need it.

2. Fix those pesky leaks! Even a slow leak can end up costing you big bucks, especially if over time it turns into an even bigger problem.  You can use your water meter readings to check for leaks; if the readings change after multiple checks in a short time frame (ie. 2 hours), then you have a leak.

3. Replace your shower head. Older shower heads waste more money by using more water/minute, as well as putting lots of demand on your water heater.

4. Consider changing out your current toilet for a more efficient model. If you have an older toilet you could be wasting more than 3 gallons per plush! Newer options use much less water and are able to stay cleaner longer.
